The weather was perfect, possibly even too hot for some, excellent for photography. The results look especially good because I took a great many more but threw out the duds. (I’m just a snapper but I give myself plenty of chances to strike lucky)

Sir Walter Gilbey’s grandson opened the event providing a link to the past. The Gilbey family home still exists (Elsenham Hall) but is now split into apartments. Evidence of the family’s generosity over the centuries is all over the village,

The other prominent gentlemen is our oldest resident Joe Robinson (White hat, Undertakers and Builders of old) and the gentleman in the deep red blazer is Mr Gordon Barker of book and slideshow fame.

We did the opening ceremony twice because the professional photographer missed it first time round and the ribbon was done with a bow knot instead of cutting it.
