A few years ago I ran a lot of material on climate change and Carbon Dioxide emissions. The scientific community had been split on the assumption that CO2 was responsible for global warming. I had taken the side of the sceptics.
The Met Office, beyond weather forecasting, is active across a wide range of climate related research, not least climate change which is mainly carried out at their Hadley Centre. Below I have lifted the following from the web-site hosted by the Met Office and run by its scientists.
Researchers at the Met Office Hadley Centre produce and maintain a range of gridded datasets of meteorological variables for use in climate monitoring and climate modelling. This site provides access to these datasets for bona fide scientific research and personal usage only.
Please note that this is not an operational service. This site is run by research staff with the primary aim of improving collaboration with fellow researchers. Everyone is welcome to use the site, and we aim to make it reliable, but it does not have the same level of support as the official Met Office web site
Sorry folks the link has been broken - somebody doesn’t want publicity!
I’m leaving the data here anyway, if anybody thinks I invented it they are beyond reach of reason! All the proper Met Office pages I can find have their charts chopped off at 2000 so as not to show the fact that temperatures have been dropping ever since!
